the Portuguese Veterinary Authorities |

Last Wednesday, March 1st 2006, we were informed by the
Portuguese Veterinary Authorities that, due to the increase of cases of Avian Influenza in different countries of Western Europe, they
will not allow the entry of foreign pigeons for participation in the Mira One Loft Races 2006.
The document from the Veterinary Authorities reads (english
translation):
From: the National Animal Health Service
Subject: International Championships for Pigeons
Due to the propagation of the virus H5N1 of the Avian Influenza in different countries of the European Community, we have to inform you that no competition is allowed with pigeons proceeding from countries of the European Community and/or from other countries.
